It's not obvious, but in fact the command line options (for the windows program) are the same as those found under the menu option Settings -> Drag and drop properties If you disable the "view results" option there, you won't get Acrobat being launched after conversion. (The reference to "browser" is an anachronism aristing from the fact that AscToPDF shares much of its user interface with the original AscToHTM) However, if you want to run from the command line, I would recommend that rather than using the Windows version (although it does support command line operation) you instead use the command-line only "console" version, a2pcons. An evaluation version can be downloaded from http://www.jafsoft.com/download/windows/a2pcons_demo.zip The command line and conversion functionality should be identical apart from the fact the program is now called "a2pcons", instead of "AscToPDF". Any policy file developed with AscToPDF should work with a2pcons. Should you decide to register, you'll get download instructions for both versions. The console version is a slightly lighter version, and isn't inclinded to show a status window or launch the results in a viewer after conversion. From the issues you describe I'd say it was better suited yto your needs. Hope this helps.
